Having set in on two discussion sessions concerning the fate of Piers 27 and 29, I have taken the values expressed and added a few of my own. Understand that Pier 27 is relatively new--it is 165 ft wide--over 1000 ft long and has no internal supports. Additionally, the roof is totally supported by a series of columns and therefore the tilt-up concret walls have no structrual need, THEREFORE the entire exterior can be glass. In this proposal space is provided to the citizens of San Francisco for team indoor sports (two indoor soccer fields and an Olympic size indoor roller hockey/soccer rink), individual sports, a large outdoor area for unstructed sports made of SportTurf, along with view corridors, ample parking, retail space, and a water-side plaza accessible to all.
